Watch the Last Span of the Old City Island Bridge Being Removed

The old 1901 steel bridge that connected City Island to The Bronx is being torn down for a replacement bridge coming soon. In this video from The New City Island Bridge, the organizers of the Facebook page behind the new bridge, watch as the final span of the old bridge is cut away and removed.

The final link between City Island and the mainland was severed on May 14th. We made a short film about it. The temporary bridge continues to enable access to the island, as it has since the old bridge closed last December.
