Occupy the Inlet, a Protest to Save Buswick Inlet Park This Sunday

This Sunday, August 9th from 12:30pm to 2:00pm, Friends of the Bushwick Inlet Park is organizing a protest called Occupy the Inlet in which watercraft of all shapes and sizes will surround the park and fill the calm inlet, as well as have pedestrians surround the perimeter of the park.

Friends of Bushwick Inlet Park is calling on all NYC area boat clubs to raft together in kayaks, canoes, and outriggers and fill the remarkably calm and tranquil Bushwick Inlet at 12:30pm or slack tide on the Brooklyn shore of the East River. Bushwick Inlet is one of North Brooklyn’s most significant ecosystems with a storied past as the site of America’s first modern oil refinery, Astral Oil Works, and Continental Iron Works, maker of the famed ironclad vessel, the USS Monitor.

Check out the protest's event page or more info on how you can help save Bushwick Inlet Park.
