New York City Girl Scout Troop Fights For Central Park's First Woman Monument

There are 22 statues and monuments in Central Park that feature significant historical figures, and none of them feature a woman.

A local troop of Girl Scouts are helping to change that, raising awareness to a fundraising efforts to erect Central Park’s first monument featuring women of historical significance.

Girl Scouts from an Upper East Side troop paraded down Central Park West trying to raise money for a monument to women that would sit on the edge of the park.

The Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony Statue Fund runs a website at where you can keep up with the monument’s progress.
