Getting to La Guardia Airport Will Soon Suck a Little Less

Construction on the AirTrain shuttle between the Mets-Willet Point 7 line subway stop and La Guardia airport begins today.

The LaGuardia AirTrain project is moving forward today. A groundbreaking ceremony is set for this afternoon. The new AirTrain would run 1.5 miles along the Grand Central Parkway and connect with the 7 train and the Long Island Railroad at Willets Point. It's part of Governor Andrew Cuomo's $4 billion plan to modernize LaGuardia Airport. Vice President Joe Biden is set to attend today's groundbreaking. In 2014, he compared conditions at LaGuardia to a "third world country".
