The construction of the massive midtown skyscraper One Vanderbilt is underway, and details of the modern glass and steel tower are starting to emerge. It is now confirmed that the new tower will include a rooftop observation deck at 1,020 feet, making it the third tallest open air deck in the City.

The viewing platform will be located at the 1,020-foot mark, which will make it the third-highest indoor-outdoor observatory in the city after the forthcoming 1,100-foot deck at 30 Hudson Yards and the Empire State Building’s at 1,050 feet (One World Observatory is at 1,250 feet, but it’s not outdoors).

Sitting directly next to Grand Central on 42nd St, and with line-of-sight to the New York Public Library, Chrysler Center and Times Square, the new One Vanderbilt observation will surely boast one of the best views around once completed.
