Okamoto Studio is an ice-carving workshop in Astoria, Queens, that provides professional ice sculptures for major events around New York City. In this video from the new How to Make It series from our friends at Eater, watch as artist/owner Shintaro Okamoto teaches the host how to carve using chainsaw, blade upkeep, and power tools.

Katie Pickens is Iron Chef Michael Symon's culinary director and the brand new host of How to Make It, a new series from Eater that gets hands-on with some of the craziest jobs in the food world. The premiere episode sees Pickens exploring the art of ice sculpting at Okamoto Studios in Queens, NY. Okamoto Studios has provided sculptures for cocktail bars, bar mitzvahs, and events like New York Fashion Week since 2003.
