This Sad Video Shows Exactly Why You Should Shop in NYC on Small Business Saturday

In this sad short film from one of our favorite local video producers Chris Ming Ryan and his company Wheelhouse Communications, watch the last day at Joon, a mom-and-pop local business on the Upper West Side forced to close after three decades due to greedy landlords and unreasonably rising rents.

Joon Fish Market stood at 98th Street and Amsterdam avenue in New York City for over 30 years. We filmed on their last full day open to customers which was November 6th, 2017. […] I'm hoping this short film compels New Yorkers to buy local. At this very moment, we are losing the fabric of our NYC neighborhoods as more mom and pop stores, like Joon, vanish.

Tomorrow, Saturday, November 25th, is Small Business Saturday. If you wish to keep the local stores like Joon in your neighborhood, give them a visit tomorrow and buy what you can, then continue to come back throughout the rest of the year too. Nobody wants to see a New York City without mom-and-pop local businesses. Do your part.
