Back in July we wrote about WNYC's challenge to find the longest subway ride through the power of donated distributed computing (read: your computer).

The rules were simple: you get one swipe, and you can visit the same station over and over, but can't repeat a segment of the subway map twice.

The longest route found thus far: 154.6 mi with 54 transfers. Somebody had to try this out, and that somebody was Jodi Avrigan, the host of ESPN’s FiveThirtyEight podcast.

Jody Avirgan, the host of ESPN’s FiveThirtyEight podcast, actually braved that trek on a hot day this week. The entire trip took him nearly 14 hours. He started at 8 a.m. at Far Rockaway and reached his final destination a little after 10 p.m.
