Mother of Pearl in Alphabet City First of Many Restaurants in NYC to Go Meat-Free

Mother of Pearl in Alphabet City is a popular restaurant from restauranteur Ravi Derossi that serves up craft tiki cocktails and Hawaiian inspired small plates.

Derossi recently made news with the announcement that 15 of his company's restaurants will be switching their menu to be meat-free, serving up vegan and vegetarian cuisine only.

In this video from Eater, watch as host Kat Odell heads out to the restaurant to find out why.

On this episode of Consumed, host Kat Odell sits down with Ravi Derossi, a New York City restaurateur who plans to overhaul all of his establishments’ menus to be 100% vegan. Odell visits Derossi at Mother of Pearl, a Polynesian-inspired lounge in the East Village, that is the first to take the plunge.
