Lunch Atop a Skyscraper is one of the most famous photographs of our City, and one of the most famous photographs of all time. Captured on the top of Rockefeller Center while it was under construction in 1932, the ironworkers back then risked all to build the giant buildings, with very few safety precautions, if any. A similar scene, taken 85 years later, shows hard-hats, safety harnesses, safety netting, and much more careful construction workers on the top of the Hudson Yards project in a similar shot.
