JUNGLE-IZED, a Project Transforming Times Square Into a Jungle Through Natural Sound

Times Square's Midnight Moment is an art initiative by Times Square Arts in which all of the billboards in Times Square synchronize to show an audio/visual art piece at exactly 11:57pm everyday for 3 minutes.

This month's installation, an audio walkthrough experience called JUNGLE-IZED works a little differently than in previous months. Though there still is a midnight movie displayed for the project, the audio experience is available throughout the entire day.

Each night in April from 11:57pm to midnight, the electronic billboards of Times Square will be transformed by JUNGLE-IZED the video, directed by Stephan Crasneanscki of Soundwalk Collective. Inviting spectators to take part in a simple collective action in celebration of Earth Month, JUNGLE-IZED reveals the hidden energy that exists in one of the most biodiverse environments in the world, bringing the animals, the air, the trees, and the tribal inhabitants of the Amazon to New York City.

Check out the project page for more info on the JUNGLE-IZED project.
