GrowNYC's Governors Island Teaching Garden Teaches Kids How to Grow and Cook Veggies

GrowNYC is a local non-profit which seeks to improve "quality of life through environmental programs that transform communities block by block and empower all New Yorkers to secure a clean and healthy environment for future generations." Their latest program is a free, interactive teaching garden on Governors Island which shows kids how to grow, maintain, pick, and cook veggies from seed to plate. Check it out in this short video from our friends at Inhabitat.

A tree may grow in Brooklyn, but an amazing urban farm flourishes on Governors Island. An incredible GrowNYC initiative is teaching inner city kids how to plant, water, harvest, and cook pesticide-free fruits, herbs, and vegetables.
