Fluff and Fold and Tilt: A Pinball Speakeasy Exists Inside Greenpoint's Sunshine Laundromat

Sunshine Laundry in Greenpoint on Manhattan Avenue is just like every other laundromat, with coin operated washers and dryers, some vending machines, detergent and folding tables.

There is one big difference between Sunshine and other laundromats though… this one has a pinball speakeasy and bar hidden away in the back behind a false double-stacked dryer.

The cavernous, wood-paneled back bar area is crowded with dozens of people and pinball machines. The games are beautiful, and each one seems brand new, regardless of whether they’re three or 30 years old. They’re collected, curated, and maintained by Sunshine owner Peter Rose, who is, in a word, obsessive.
