[WATCH] Here's How Brooklyn's Cobble Hill Neighborhood Got Its Name

The Brooklyn neighborhood of Cobble Hill gets its name from Dutch settlers who named it after the conical shaped hill they called "Cobleshill" or "Ponkiesbergh". During the Revolutionary War, the British Army flattened the hill so that it could not be used to look down on their Brooklyn Heights main headquarters. The original Cobble Hill was approximately at the spot where Trader Joes exists today.
