Vintage Photograph Showing Manhattan's 6th Avenue and 40th Street from May 18th, 1940

Photo: Imgur

This vintage photograph was taken on May 18th, 1940 and features a man reading the morning paper on the corner of 6th Avenue and West 40th street in Manhattan.

The headline reads: "Nazi Army Now 75 Miles From Paris."

Captured by a photographer whose name has been lost to history, the shot faces South from the Northwest corner of the intersection. Bryant Park is out of view but immediately to the left of this image.

Here is a Google streetview of how the same corner looks today.
