Photographer Arthur Fellig, better known by his pseudonym "Weegee", is known for his stark black and white street photography of New York City in the 1930's and 1940's. In this shot, Weegee captured a very busy day in the Summer of 1940. Believe it or not, this photo was not taken on a weekend, but rather on a Monday, July 22nd, 1940.
The original shot was a gelatin silver print and belongs to the online collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
