Vintage Photograph of a Midtown German Specialty Food Store From 1895

This vintage photograph from 1895 shows Charles Westphalen and his family in front of their Midtown German specialty food store.

You won’t find a trace of Charles Westphalen’s store today, however. He was forced to move, along with other businesses occupying the block, in the early 1900s to make way for Penn Station.

Check out the original article on Ephemeral New York to read more about the vintage photo.
