Back in 1844, at Brennan Farm House on the Upper West Side, near the intersection of 84th and Broadway, author and poet Edgar Allan Poe wrote 'The Raven'. Before the implementation of Manhattan's grid street pattern hit the neighborhood, the house sat atop a rocky plot of land, seen here in this vintage photograph from around 1879.
