Vintage Film From 1934 Shows Guests of the 'Motion Picture Ball of 34' in New York City

This great vintage film from YouTuber and film restorer Guy Jones shows guests arriving at the 1934 Motion Picture Ball, a event celebrating the relatively new industry of motion picture filmmaking. It seems like the red carpet has captivated audiences for almost a hundred years, as the first 8 minutes of the film is just an announcer who comments on gusts as they arrive to the Waldorf-Astoria hotel in Manhattan. The video gives a great look into how uipper-class New Yorkers talked, dressed, and behaved 84 years ago.

Old film of high society and movie industry folks arriving at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City for a ballroom party that took place in February 1934. These scenes were captured with an early Movietone sound camera. I can't say I recognized a single personality but this is still quite a trip. Worked on footage and sound
