Uber Gets Into in the Food Delivery Game with New UberEATS Program

Transportation giant Uber is hoping to get in on the lucrative food-delivery business in NYC by taking on Seamless and Caviar with a new service called UberEATS.

UberEATS delivers the best of New York City right when you want it. Our curated menu features dishes from the local spots you love. And the ones you’ve always wanted to try. It’s the same cashless payment as an Uber ride. So just tap the app, meet your driver outside, and enjoy.

Currently, the service is very limited, offering Lunch only from a preselected menu that has just two selections — sandwich, soup or salad — on it from local favorites such as Num Pang and Mighty Quinn's.

The delivery area is very limited at launch, only covering Manhattan North of 14th until 40th St, but Uber hopes to expand to the rest of Manhattan, Brooklyn then the other boroughs shortly.

Even with it's limited rollout, it's a huge step for Uber, one that if successful, could disrupt the current delivery eco-system as we know it in New York City.
