The Pickleback is an odd drink — a shot of low-grade whisky followed by a shot of pickle juice — but that combination just works.
The burn of alcohol and all of these roasty, toasty flavors, and then you get the exact counterbalance. There's something that, your mind just, Aaaaaah. Harmony. Right in the center.
Nearly everybody who hears of it for the first time has the same reaction… "you want me to drink what?" But, peer pressure endured and since 2006, when the shot was first had in Brooklyn dive-bar Bushwick Country Club, the combo shot has spread around NYC like wildfire.
