A new Airbnb listing has gone up advertising a cozy room in a neighborhood deli and is causing quite a stir.
Set in a gentrifying neighborhood, this newly furnished semi-private room is separated from the 25yr old Jesse's Deli by a potato chips stand. Space includes iPhone docking station, clock radio, minibar, big windows & tasteful art. Breakfast in bed.
It is all a stunt from the same deli we wrote about earlier this year that was protesting rent hikes with a brilliant mock advertising campaign.
Jesse's Deli is listing a room on Airbnb for $329 to meet its monthly 2.5x rent increase. In defiance of gentrification, Brooklyn-based Jesse’s Deli will host an “AirBnBodega Bed-In” to urge Mayor de Blasio to support the #BillDeBodega, a.k.a Small Business Jobs Survival Act, which has floated around City Council for over 30 years and needs just 3 votes to pass.
Check out airBnBodega for more on the project.
