Believe it or not, Roosevelt Island has a population of over 12,000 residents,
and those people deserve to read! The small East River island is officially part of Manhattan, and Borough President
Gale Brewer recently visited a community council meeting to show
her support for a new branch of the NYPL on Roosevelt Island that is twice the size of the current one.

If all goes according to plan, the NYPL should open the library in 2018.
