Retired city planner and historian Gilbert Tauber noticed one day that there are a ton of streets around the City with two names: 6th Avenue and Avenue of the Americas, Avenue M and Mary Queen of Heaven Way, etc…

When he sought out a master list, there was none to be found, so Tauber created one at NYC Streets.

The following listings cover all honorific street namings in Local Laws enacted from the beginning of 1998 through the end of 2013. This is the period for which City Council documents are available on-line. In the near future, we plan to add names authorized in earlier years.

Check out NYC Streets to learn more and see the full listings.
