Citizen is a new App in New York City that provides real-time notifications and alerts on public safety incidents in your immediate area. For example, in the video above, a mother gets an alert about a man with a gun in a playground while she in on route to said playground with her young daughter.
It allows for the live-streaming of incidents, giving you complete transparency of your neighborhood around you. In New York City alone, there are nearly 10,000 calls to 911 each and every day. Many of these are for life-threatening emergencies or crimes occurring with thousands of people around.
