Kickstarter Campaign Seeks to Create Chess Set Using Iconic New York City Buildings For Pieces

A new Kickstarter campaign is looking to bring the New York Skyline to life as a custom 3D-printed chess game called Skyline Chess - New York Edition. The set uses iconic New York City buildings as pieces, such as the Empire State Building, One World Trade Center, the Flatiron Building, the Chrysler Building and the Guggenheim Museum.

We've chosen a range of buildings from across the city, some of which capture the essence of the early 1900's construction boom and the growth of skyscraper architecture, through to their more contemporary counterparts, along with some of the city's most recognisable silhouettes.

To make the chess set, the company behind it is seeking $12k and has already raised $6.5k with 30 days to go. Perks range from a set of playing cards to a completely customized chess set for the highest pledges. Check out the campaign page for more info.
