Privately Owned Public Space is a term given to any public lobby, plaza, garden or park that lies on private land. Real estate developers and properties often trade their private spaces for public in exchange for tax breaks, or other benefits while under construction.

There are way more POPS in New York City than you would imagine, with the majority of them being in Midtown and Lower Manhattan, where public space is probably the most scarce in all the City.

Check out this interactive map to search for a POPS near you.
