January 14th is National Hot Pastrami Day, and we will use this tasty food holiday as an excuse to show you behind the scenes of the pastrami counter at the world famous Katz's Deli in Manhattan's Lower East Side. Ever since opening in 1888 (under a different name), the deli has been popular amongst tourists and locals alike. In recent decades, the Deli has drawn many tourists due to it being a filming location for the famous I'll Have What She's Having scene in 1989's When Harry Met Sally.
In this video, WNYC interviews Katz's Deli owner Jake Dell and talks about the process that goes into their delicious mile-high pastrami sandwiches.
