Drone-Shot Video Shows View of the City from the Forthcoming New York Wheel on Staten Island

The New York Wheel is a massive 630-foot tall ferris wheel currently being built in the St. George neighborhood of Staten Island.

The attraction is not slated to open until early 2017, but thank to a drone-shot video from Staten Island resident Scott Grella you can catch the view from the top of the wheel today.

Grella told Gothamist:

I always joked that they should just build some big-ass random thing on Staten Island to help stimulate the economy, so when I first heard about it I thought it was kind of funny. But it seems like it might be cool, and the increased ferry service is a plus. […] The views are impressive for photographers who want a new perspective on the city; the video I took doesn't go up to the full 625' due to FAA limitation.

As long as it can keep it's construction schedule ahead of Dubai's planned 690-foot wheel, the New York Wheel will hold the title on the World's largest once open in early 2017.
