Construction on a 630-Foot-Tall Staten Island Ferris Wheel Begins Today

The New York Wheel is a massive 630-foot tall ferris wheel being built in the St. George neighborhood of Staten Island, next to the Ferry Building and the soon-to-be-built Empire Outlets. As long as it can keep it's construction schedule ahead of Dubai's planned 690-foot wheel, the New York Wheel will hold the title on the World's largest once open in early 2017.

The New York Wheel promises to become one of the City’s–and the world’s–great landmark attractions, alongside the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building. Located on the northeastern side of Staten Island (St. George), the 630-foot, or roughly 60-story, attraction will be the tallest observation wheel in the world and the only one in New York City.
