Dominique Ansel Turns Dessert Into Interactive Art History With New Tasting Menu

Dominique Ansel Kitchen in the West Village is where famed pastry chef, and creator of the Cronut®, explores new delicious items on-demand from the in-house kitchen. Upstairs in the kitchen is a limited seating dessert tasting menu called Up that offers a unique look into the process of fine-desserting.

In this video from Eater, watch as some of the incredibly detailed items from the new American Dreams tasting menu at Up are revealed.

The mastermind behind cronuts, chocolate chip cookie shots, and the most talked about kouign amann in New York, Dominque Ansel is knowing for pushing sugary limits. But his new tasting menu — served at U.P., the “restaurant” above Dominique Ansel Kitchen in the West Village — is something else entirely. Called “American Dreams,” the dessert-only experience travels through history from the Gold Rush to the Tech Boom, making aspirations into delicious realities.

Tickets to the "American Dreams" tasting start at $90.
