Discovery Day at Freshkills Park, Staten Island's Former Landfill Turned Public Park

Freshkills Park is a 2,200 acre park currently being built on top of the former Fresh Kills Landfill on Staten Island.

To get the word out about the park, the Freshkills Park Alliance hosts regular Discovery Days filled with activities and tour guides. In this video from the Staten Island Advance, see what went down at the May 15th event.

Visitor have a chance to experience the former Fresh Kills landfill as it is transformed to into New York City's largest park developed in over 100 years.
