London-based filmmaker Willem Verbeeck shot this incredible film showing modern day New York City on a 50-year-old vintage Super 8 camera. While the video itself is nothing special, merely street scenes of tourist areas, the result of seeing modern structures like the World Trade Center Oculus and the current iteration of Times Square looks quite out-of-place in the blurry vintage film. It's like this movie was created an alternative reality NYC where 2010s technology and design existed in the 1960s.
This film was made last summer in NYC. Its interesting to see how filming NYC in a modern time can look so different simply because of the format used. Enjoy :)
