Check Out the MTA's Special Track De-Icing Subway Train

Local transit historian and railfan Dj Hammers makes tons of great videos showing how subway transit works and runs in the City.

In this recent video, he captures the MTA's rare de-icer train heading out to combat yesterday's freezing rain.

Heavy snow and ice accumulation along the right of way on the Dyre Line led to this De-Icer train being deployed. The De-Icer car in this train is a converted R21 subway car from the 1950s. Quite the unusual catch.
