Woodcut of Nieuw Amsterdam Circa 1650

Photo: Imgur

This incredible woodcut is an amazing 1650 representation of Nieuw Amsterdam, the Dutch colony on the Southern tip of Manhattan where the Financial District and Battery Park currently sit. The scan is part of a larger map depicting all of New Netherland, which in itself is an interesting sight, seeing the geography of New England with different borders than the State lines which exist in present time.
