1 World Trade Center Observatory Elevators Show Incredible Animated Time-Lapse of Lower Manhattan Development

The observation deck at 1 World Trade Center doesn't open until May 29th, but there has been limited access to the elevators leading up to the 102nd floor. David Dunlap from The New York Times was able to get in to take a sneak peek at the ride up and found an unexpected surprise.

From the moment the doors close until they reopen 47 seconds later on the 102nd floor, a seemingly three-dimensional time-lapse panorama will unfold on three walls of the elevator cabs, as if one were witnessing 515 years of history unfolding at the tip of Manhattan Island.

Check out the accompanying article for more info on the elevator, the observation deck and the tower.
