[WATCH] Tourist in Your Own Town Explores the Staten Island Museum at Snug Harbor

The New York Landmarks Conservancy's excellent Tourist in Your Own Town series explores some of New York City’s best hidden gems as well as some of its classic iconic landmarks. In this recent episode from the series, watch as host Peg Breen takes a look at the Staten Island Museum at Snug Harbor.

This 83-acre campus was once a home for retired seaman. It now houses several cultural institutions in Landmark Greek Revival buildings. The Museum dates from 1881, when a group of naturalists combined their collections to record the island's plants and animals; it has since evolved adding art and history to its mission.
