While the Rockaways definitely have a thriving surf culture and a food scene to go with it, the beach is not known for the biggest waves. With the recent hurricane and tropical storm activity in the Atlantic ocean however, the waves have been much larger than normal, and the surfers are loving it! Check out this video of surfers taking on the surge swell following Hurricane Irma.
