[WATCH] Shalom Japan, a Unique Japanese-Jewish Restaurant Blending Cuisines in Williamsburg

Shalom Japan is a unique restaurant in South Williamsburg that combines Japanese and Jewish cuisines in an unexpectedly delicious pairing. In this video from our friends at Thrillist, see how the restaurant makes their signature fusion dishes like matzo ball ramen, sake-infused challah and pastrami topped okonomiyaki.

After a trip to Japan, husband and wife team Aaron Israel and Sawako Okochi discovered the similarities in flavors between their different upbringings, his Jewish and hers Japanese. Paying homage to their combined heritages, the couple opened Shalom Japan as a culinary representation of their relationship.
