In this video you will explore some of the oldest photos of Central Park. All the photos are from approximately 1860 in the early to mid 19th century. Prior to the development of Central Park, New York City was primarily a densely built Island the city streets were crowded with buildings and little amounts of green land. Before Central Park was constructed, residents of Manhattan went to cemeteries to find some relaxation in open grass spaces.
