Chinatown produces more food waste than any other neighborhood in New York. The dense population of street food and cheap eats taken to-go leads to an abundance of thrown out food garbage in public trash cans, leading to an abundance of rats who like to eat it.
Columbus Park is the epicenter of rat activity in the City, providing a shelter for rats before they hunt through Chinatown looking for food.
