Snapped by Swiss photographer Willy Spiller in the 1970s and '80s, this great collection of vintage photographs really capture what it was like on the NEw York City subway during that time.

New York subway system is one of the world’s oldest public transit system, it was opened in 1904. By the 1970s and 1980s, the New York City Subway was at an all-time low. Subway travel was not considered safe, the rate of thefts, violent incidents in the New York subway was so high by 1980.
