This great vintage photograph from around 1934 shows the view from Brooklyn's Fulton Ferry Landing looking across the East River towards lower Manhattan. This would be right at the edge of Old Fulton Street today, around Pier 1 in Brooklyn Bridge Park. Here is a Google StreetView of approximately the same view today:
