1970's New York City was a dirty, crime-ridden place, especially in the East Village. In this vintage photograph from photographer Manel Armengol, we get to see Saint Mark's Place at Third Avenue as it appeared in 1978, a few days after a snow storm judging by the piles of dirty snow on the sides of the street.
