Brooklyn's Manhattan Beach has been a destination for local beachgoers for over a century. From when it opened in 1877, until the Coney Island amusement parks were built in the early 1900s, Manhattan Beach was the most popular beach destination around.

This amazing pair of photos were captured in 1902 by B.J. Falk, then scanned in high definition by the Library of Congress.

This photo is in the public domain in the United States. This applies to U.S. works where the copyright has expired, often because its first publication occurred prior to January 1, 1923. See this page for further explanation.
