Vintage Photograph of Broadway Advertising in Times Square Circa 1909

This is a vintage photograph from an unknown photographer dating back to about 1909. It shows the intersection of Broadway and 42nd St., right at the South end of Times Square.

Before 1909, Times Square was known as Longacre Square, but changed when the New York Times moved into the new One Times Square building that would have been to the left of this shot. Here is a 1903 photograph of One Times Square under construction.

This photo is in the public domain in the United States. This applies to U.S. works where the copyright has expired, often because its first publication occurred prior to January 1, 1923. See this page for further explanation.
