The Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree is arguably the most famous Christmas Tree and lighting ceremony in the world. Now a major media production and concert with superstars, the ceremony had humble beginnings.

In this vintage photograph from 1931, see the very first Rockefeller Center christmas tree, while the center was still under construction. This view is looking north-east towards St. Patrick's Cathedral, with the tree in the same approximate spot it is setup over 8 decades later.
