Ephemeral New York recently dug this vintage photograph up from the Museum of the City of New York's digital archives showing "Longacre Square" in 1900, the name of Times Square back before the New York Times moved in.

Longacre Square at Broadway and 42nd St., which is now Times Square. Horse drawn carriages drive in the street. On the left, a theater sign advertises "burlesque, ballet and varieties".

Check out the specimen page for more info or to order a print from the museum.
