In this vintage news clip from February 15th, 1984, watch as Pix11 anchor Pat Harper reports that New York City will get its first non-212 telephone area code, something that local residents are not happy about at all.

On Feb. 15, 1984 Pat Harper reported on the 10 p.m. INN News that people in Queens, Brooklyn and Staten Island were losing their beloved 212 area code for the new 718. Guess what? People were NOT happy.
