Try Your Luck at the Prospect Park End-of-Summer Camp Out Lottery

Camping by moonlight | This photo is from our trip to vegas/grand canyon from the memorial day weekend. We didn't book the camp site but was lucky to get one of those "first come first serve" camp sites. The key is to reach early by 10AM or so and you can grab one of them. We camped there for a day and this is the desert view campsite. Katie did an amazing book cover for school project using this image: Illustration: Usage: 1. 2. 3.

The annual end-of-summer camp-out in Prospect Park is a cool event where park rangers will let you into the park after dark to have a legitimate camping experience, tent and all.

We camp to create lasting memories, connect with the natural world, and bond with our families. Camping affords us the opportunity to unplug from the diversions of everyday life and to laugh and play with our families. The Urban Park Rangers celebrate the tradition of camping and we look forward to welcoming your family.

Past camp-outs have been so popular and despite the size of the park, space is extremely limited, so there is a lottery system to choose the lucky participants who get to sleep overnight.

Not many New Yorkers have a chance to camp out under the stars in the middle of Brooklyn, so head to the lottery page to enter and try your luck!
